Family pictures do not have to mean matching outfits, perfectly behaved kids, and everyone smiling at the camera at exactly the same time.

Actually, some of my favorite photographs happen in between all of that.

I want the picture where everyone is looking at the camera and Grandma can frame it. But I also want your kid laughing at something completely inappropriate, siblings annoying each other, and the little moments that actually feel like your family.

I am a big believer in getting the classic family portrait.

Everyone together. Everyone looking good. Nobody missing because they were the one holding the phone.

Then we can have fun.

I photograph different combinations of your family, individual portraits of the kids, parents together, siblings together, and plenty of the candid moments that happen along the way.

You will end up with photographs that work for holiday cards and framed prints, but also a whole collection that feels much more like your actual family.

You don't need a special occasion

A lot of families are great about taking pictures when their children are babies and then suddenly realize they haven't had a professional family picture in ten years.

There doesn't need to be a milestone.

Your kids being 8, 16 or 25 is enough of a reason. Having everyone home at the same time is enough of a reason. Your parents being able to join you is a really good reason.

Sometimes the ordinary year ends up being the one you're happiest you photographed.

Family photo locations around Hillside

Your family session doesn't have to happen in a giant park just because it's a family photo session.

We can photograph at your home, somewhere around Hillside, or use one of the many parks and neighborhoods a short drive away. Hillside's location also gives us easy access to very different-looking areas without turning your photo session into an hour-long drive.

The best location depends on your family and the season. If your kids need room to run, we'll choose differently than we would for a family with adult children who wants something a little more polished.

I generally deliver galleries in about one week.

You can order professional prints directly through your gallery if you want them, but you don't have to buy anything else afterward. Your digital photographs are yours to download, share and print.
