Ainslie Williamsburg Brooklyn New York Stars and Moon Wedding

Lex found me through our mutual friend Michael. Lex was talking to Michael on the phone saying her wedding planning was harder than she thought it would be. All the photographers she liked were booked and none of the other ones fit her unique style. Michael told Lex to hold on, he might have a solution. He created a group chat and connected us together. I showed Lex my portfolio and some full galleries. Lex immediately responded and thanked Michael. I was EXACTLY what she pictured and more.

Lex and Dave through mutual friends in 2016. At the end of 2016 into 2017, one of those mutual friends kept insisting that they go on a date. Lex was adamantly "dating" herself (read: loving the single life) and so was Dave, but they eventually caved and knew pretty immediately that they were compatible in a special way. They started dating March 2017. Lex proposed to Dave in Paris on the edge of the river Seine in summer 2019. A casual proposal. They didn't exchange rings until November 2020. They didn't even tell most folks about their engagement for a long time because it was fun and special to have to themselves. They really took our time with it. Together, they enjoy playing videogames, watching anime, cooking, and being adventurous eaters! They are very cuddly, their nickname for each other is "bb".

I started messaging Lex and I liked her right away. We had a TON in common. We both work in the arts, karaoke queens, and LOVE anything different off beat and quirky. She talked about how she loved polaroids and wants them all over her wedding, I'm famous for only bringing my instax to parties because I think the prints are more fun than DSLR. Her wedding theme was start and moons, I have a tattoo on my back of stars and moons. Honestly I was surprised we haven’t met before with so much in common.

Both of them don’t really like gender rules like myself, and insisted they BOTH have a beautiful flower bouquet and wear crystals in their hair. Their outfits were custom made to go together. Lex wore a grey gown adorned with sparkly stars. It had a lot of pretty flowy layers! Dave wore a grey suit adorned with cream colored stars and moons. He had it custom made and was extremely excited about his "space suit".

The wedding itself was amazing. We started out a portrait session of Dave and Lex together. Followed by a light cocktail hour of snacks and drinks. Friends and family slowly trickled in and were almost always greeted by a warm hug from someone. After an hour, a small ceremony was done at the head of the room. Rob Dougherty, one of their best friends, officiated the wedding. Both of their grandmas were their witnesses in signing the wedding license. The main course was served and Lex and Dave fed each other mac and cheese balls instead of cake. Following the delicious meal a fun slightly 80's inspired playlist started and people were drinking and tearing up the dance floor for the rest of the night until cake.

In lieu of a big wedding cake gourmet cupcakes were served. It was also their little friend Niko's birthday and there was a small cake and singing for the kid's 7th birthday. After cake crazy dance moves resumed.

Lex and Dave couldn’t' have had a better wedding day. Every detail went perfect and every single person LOVED the cerebration of the union of two pretty cool, unique, and kind people.
