Orthodox Jewish Vort Engagement party at Sharei Eliezer Torna Hall in Brookyln New York

The best clients often start as friends, and that's exactly how my business relationship with Esti began. We've been close friends for over three years, sharing everything from fashion tips to the ups and downs of life in New York City.

I was volunteering in Israel when Esti reached out to me about photographing an engagement party, I was thrilled. The event was to be held at Sharei Eliezer Torna Hall in Brooklyn, New York. She mentioned it was for her brother's engagement, and without hesitation she booked me for the job. Looking back, I realized I didn't need to show her brother and his fiancée any galleries or have discussions with them directly. It was a smooth and easy process, and I was excited to be a part of it.

A week and a half before the event, Esti sent an invite to our friend group chat. To my surprise, it was actually her own Vort/engagement party! It was also taking place also at Sharei Eliezer Torna Hall in Brooklyn, New York and time as her “brother's” engagement party and vort. I understood then why booking the job had been so effortless. Esti had seen my work before and loved it, so I was even more excited to capture her special day.

Meeting Naftali, Esti's fiancé, was a pleasure. They were clearly deeply in love, and it was wonderful to witness. They are shomer negiah, a beautiful mitzvah where a man and woman do not touch until marriage. It was challenging to pose them so I found creative ways to capture their love through their expressions and body language.

The party was a beautiful celebration, filled with mutual friends coming together to congratulate the happy couple. I even managed to be in a photo myself! Shortly after the event, Esti sent me a lovely voice memo expressing her and everyone's delight with the photos. It was incredibly rewarding to know that I had captured such a special moment so perfectly.
